Pete Dye Course
This hilltop, par-72 championship course has been widely recognized as Indiana’s top public layout, originally sketched by Pete Dye and built into the state’s highest elevation with panoramic views of the Hoosier National Forest. Its dramatic terrain, strategic bunkering, and five sets of tees make it both a visually striking and challenging test for golfers of varied abilities.
Brickyard Crossing
Set partly inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Brickyard Crossing is unique among Dye’s designs for routing four holes in the infield and 14 outside the track. The par-72 layout combines motorsport history with golf strategy, offering subtle shot values and interesting risk-reward decisions across 7,180 yards.

The Fort
Located in Indianapolis, The Fort features classic Dye hallmarks—undulating greens and tree-lined fairways—spread across 7,148 yards. Its natural setting and thoughtful routing provide a championship feel while remaining accessible, making it a standout public option on the trail.
Ackerman-Allen (Purdue)
Part of the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ackerman-Allen blends rolling hills, tree-lined corridors, and Dye-influenced strategic bunkering. Renovations have enhanced its championship playability, making it a strong parkland test within the trail.

Kampen-Cosler (Purdue)
Also at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, the Kampen-Cosler Course is rated among the top collegiate venues in the nation. Its design emphasizes shot placement and variety, providing a contrasting but complementary experience to Ackerman-Allen.
Accomodations
Together, Indianapolis, Bloomington/French Lick, and West Lafayette form a well-rounded Pete Dye Golf Trail experience that blends urban convenience, resort-style golf, and efficient multi-course access. Each stop offers a distinct setting and pace, allowing golfers to combine marquee designs, varied landscapes, and easy travel into a single, cohesive Indiana golf itinerary.

Indianapolis
Staying in Indianapolis places golfers at the center of the Pete Dye Golf Trail, with easy access to Brickyard Crossing and The Fort while enjoying the city’s dining, sports, and nightlife. The convenience of a major metro makes it simple to pair championship golf with off-course options, creating a balanced trip that works well for both golf-focused groups and mixed itineraries.
Bloomington/French Lick
Basing a trip around Bloomington or nearby French Lick delivers a more destination-style golf experience anchored by The Pete Dye Course at French Lick. Elevated terrain, sweeping views, and a true resort atmosphere define this stop on the trail, offering a dramatic contrast to the urban settings elsewhere in Indiana and making it ideal for golfers seeking a marquee round and a slower-paced stay.

West Lafayette
West Lafayette serves as a strong hub for playing the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, home to the Ackerman-Allen and Kampen-Cosler courses. With two highly regarded Dye designs in one location and easy access to nearby trail stops, it offers efficiency and variety, pairing quality golf with a laid-back college-town setting that works especially well for multi-round itineraries.
