The Loop
The Loop, designed by the renowned Tom Doak, is one of the most innovative and celebrated designs in modern golf. This reversible masterpiece features two distinct 18-hole layouts—Black and Red—played in opposite directions on alternating days. Rather than relying on dramatic elevation changes, The Loop showcases Doak’s brilliant use of contours, angles, and firm, fast-playing fescue surfaces. The result is a pure, strategic golf experience that challenges players to think creatively, adapt to changing conditions, and appreciate the subtle artistry of minimalist design.

The front nine offers a classic parkland feel, winding through corridors of red and jack pines. The back nine evokes echoes of Pine Valley, with exposed native sand areas, rugged natural contours, and scruffy underbrush that frame and cross the fairways and greens.

The Bootlegger
The Bootlegger is Forest Dunes’ fun-forward, 10-hole short course designed to bring out the playful side of the game. Crafted by celebrated architects Riley Johns and Keith Rhebb, it features imaginative green complexes, bold contours, and plenty of opportunities for creative shot-making. With holes ranging from tricky wedges to smooth bump-and-runs, The Bootlegger is perfect for friendly matches, group competitions, or casual late-afternoon loops.

Villas
The Villas are located beside The Loop and are designed with groups in mind. These modern, multi-bedroom units come in several configurations, including the popular 4-bedroom walkthrough, which connects two units under one roof to sleep up to eight guests. With full kitchens, comfortable living spaces, and a short walk to the clubhouse, the Villas blend practicality with elevated comfort.
Cottages
The Cottages offer the most private and spacious accommodations at Forest Dunes, with options located along Lake AuSable or bordering the Forest Dunes course. These luxury homes range from three to six bedrooms and feature full kitchens, individual beds, outdoor grills, and, for the lakeside units, private fire pits. Perfect for larger groups or extended stays, the Cottages provide a true home-away-from-home experience in the heart of the Huron National Forest.
